Course Overview

Our Basic Pistol course is designed to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of firearms safety, handling, and marksmanship skills. This comprehensive 2-Hour Basic Pistol Course, is specifically designed for first-time and new shooters. This course provides step-by-step instruction on pistol shooting fundamentals, along with essential safety and firearm law knowledge. With 1-hour of informative lecture and 1-hour of practical range exercises, participants will gain hands-on experience to build confidence and proficiency in pistol shooting.

Course Format: The Basic Pistol course typically consists of a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on shooting exercises at a shooting range. The ratio of classroom time to range time may vary depending on the specific course and instructor.

Classroom Instruction: During the classroom portion, participants will receive detailed instruction on firearm safety, basic marksmanship principles, handgun operation, shooting techniques, range etiquette, and relevant laws and regulations. Visual aids, presentations, and demonstrations will be used to enhance understanding.

Range Exercises: The practical portion of the course takes place at a shooting range, where participants will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom. Under the supervision of qualified instructors, participants will practice safe firearm handling and marksmanship skills.

Course Objectives:

Handgun Operation: Familiarizing participants with their handgun, and it’s functionality. Participants will learn how to properly load, unload, and the basics of marksmanship

Shooting Techniques: Introducing participants the basic fundamentals of shooting a pistol.

General Firearm Law: Overview of federal, state, and local firearm laws highlighting key regulations in Indiana.

Course Outline

• Universal Firearm Safety Rules
1. Treat all guns as if they were loaded and always know the condition of your firearm.
2. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are indexed on the target and have made the decision to fire.
3. Always keep the firearm in a safe direction and never point at anything you are not willing to kill, destroy, or buy.
